Why these homes are different
Leadlight needs a gentle hand
The lead came holding the glass is soft, and the glass itself is often original. No abrasives, no scrapers, no pressure. We clean around the leading, not across it.
Timber sashes hold water
Old timber and old putty absorb it, and water sitting in a joint is how rot starts. We work drier on these frames and we dry them properly rather than leaving them to air off.
Colonial and French panes take time
A window that looks like one pane can be twelve, and each one needs its edges detailed by hand. There is no fast way to do it well, which is why we quote these by phone rather than online.
Old glass is not flat
Original float and crown glass has ripples and imperfections that catch the light. We check these windows from more than one angle, because a mark that disappears head-on will show from the side.

What we will not do
We do not use steel wool, razor blades or any abrasive on leadlight, painted glass, or anything we are unsure about. If a window looks like it might be original or coated, we ask before we touch it.
